According to MSPoweruser reports, Microsoft's Surface Duo dual-screen phone was originally intended to run Windows 10X, until Microsoft abandoned this project and switched to Android.
However, if history can change, the handheld computer may eventually run the Windows version of the system.
The main LumiaWoA project (which can port Windows 10 to Microsoft's Lumia 950XL phone) hacker developer Gustave Monce managed to get a Microsoft Surface Duo Android dual-screen phone a few weeks ago.
Gustave Monce is expected to have begun researching the boot procedure. This is the initial stage of the project.
Microsoft officially stopped supporting Windows 10 Mobile before, but with the efforts of the WoA project developers, there will still be developers to flash the new system for the old Lumia models and the new Android models.
Since Microsoft provides a version of Windows 10 compatible with ARM devices, a group of independent developers have been maintaining an unofficial Windows on ARM project for the past few years, which is WOA.
Now that Microsoft has released the Windows 11 ARM version, there are new systems to try.
Starting in 2019, the Lumia mobile phone flashing Windows 10 ARM (WOA) project, which is a collection of third-party developers, has also been launched on GitHub, including all the projects related to LumiaWOA.
In August of this year, Xiaomi released the Mi Pad 5 and Mi Pad 5 Pro. The former is equipped with the Snapdragon 860 and the latter is equipped with the Snapdragon 870 processor.
According to the video released by the UP main @Sunflower2333 at Bilibili, Xiaomi Mi Pad 5 has successfully run the Windows 11 ARM system, and of course it also supports running Windows 10 ARM.
Xiaomi Mi Pad 5 runs Windows 11 smoothly at 2K resolution. The UP master also reduces the frequency of the CPU core to make it more power efficient.
The UP master also used the previous Woa project, using some drivers of the Snapdragon 855 (SM8150), and is still studying some things about the Snapdragon 720G, including Bluetooth and PEP.
Previously, Lumia 950, Lumia 950 XL, Mi 8, OnePlus 6T, Mi MIX 2, Mi 6 and other mobile phones have supported flashing to the Windows 11 ARM system.
