The operation is stuck, can it be canceled?

Introduction:

Some operations, such as moving partition, resizing partition, converting NTFS to FAT32, etc. involve data moving, you cannot end it midway. Otherwise it will cause data loss. But if the operation you are doing has been frozen for dozens of minutes, or to say the progress bar has stopped without moving, there must be something malfunction. You can follow the steps below to check the problem.

Solution:

  1. If the operation stays on analyzing volume, you can reboot the computer manually to terminate the operation. After rebooting you can defrag partitions and run chkdsk command line to check and fix potential errors on the disk. In addition, if there are bad sectors on the hard drive, it will also cause the operation stuck. Please use a professional software to check whether or not there are bad sectors on the hard drive. After the examination, start the operations again.

  2. If the operation stays on system updating, you can also restart computer manually. And you will find that actually the operation has been completed successfully after rebooting.

  3. If the operation stays on Moving Data status, please don’t stop it casually and wait with patience. Otherwise, it will cause data loss.
