Your Phone will allow you to access recent apps on Android

According to the recent Galaxy Unpacked 2022 event, Microsoft plans to integrate Your Phone functionality in the taskbar to allow Windows 11 users to quickly see the most recently opened apps on their phones.

Building on the existing "Apps" feature, which allows users to open their Android apps on Windows, the "recent apps" feature in the Your Phone app will be integrated into the existing taskbar, making it easy to access recent apps on the phone. This makes it easy to access the 3 most recently used apps on the phone.

As the screenshot above shows, the Your Phone app icon will appear on the right side of the taskbar, next to options like Wi-Fi or audio. To try out the new features of the Your Phone app, simply tap the ^ (small up arrow) on the taskbar in the lower right corner. In the pop-up window, you can launch the app or access recent apps directly from the desktop. You can also manage your recent apps through the "Recently Used" section.

Currently, Your Phone's taskbar toggle can only manage three recent apps, but Microsoft will improve the integration in a future release.

Other requirements to use the Your Phone app

  • A Samsung device running Android 9.0 or later with a link to Windows.
  • Both devices should be connected to the same Wi-Fi network. Ga
  • Your Phone app v1.21092.145.0 or higher. Older versions of the Your Phone app do not support recent apps.
  • Link to Windows version 1.21083.49.0 or higher.

The "recent apps" feature of the Your Phone app is currently only available on select Samsung phones and is being rolled out to the Windows Insider community and is expected to begin rolling out to Windows 10 PCs in the coming weeks. It should also be noted that integration of the Your Phone app will be enabled through the Microsoft Store.
