What’s new in Windows 11 KB5010414

windows 11

  • Microsoft fixed an issue that occurred when Windows Server 2016 was running as a Terminal Server using some cloud-based Virtual Desktop Infrastructure (VDI). As a result, the server would randomly stop responding after a period of operation. This also resolves a regression that proactively checks to ensure that CSharedLock in rpcss.exe is set correctly to avoid deadlocks.
  • Microsoft fixed an issue that could cause the time zone list in Settings to appear blank for users who are not administrators.
  • Microsoft fixed an issue affecting the Windows Search Service that occurred when using proximity operator queries.
  • Microsoft fixed an issue that prevented startup impact values from being displayed in Task Manager.
  • Microsoft has fixed an issue that prevented ShellWindows () from returning an InternetExplorer object when iexplore.exe was running in the Microsoft Edge Internet Explorer mode context.
  • Microsoft has provided the ability to share cookies between Microsoft Edge Internet Explorer mode and Microsoft Edge.
  • Microsoft has fixed an issue that affected dialog boxes in Microsoft Edge Internet Explorer mode.
  • Microsoft has fixed an issue that caused Microsoft Edge Internet Explorer mode to stop working when the F1 key is pressed.
  • Microsoft has fixed an issue that caused improper cleanup of Dynamic Data Exchange (DDE) objects. This prevented session teardown and caused the session to stop responding.
  • Microsoft fixed an issue that prevented printing from working properly for some low-integrity process applications.
  • Microsoft has introduced support for Windows Hello for Business Cloud Trust. This is a new deployment model for hybrid deployments of Windows Hello for Business. It uses the same technology and deployment steps to support internal single sign-on (SSO) with Fast IDentity Online (FIDO) security keys. Cloud Trust simplifies the Windows Hello for Business deployment experience by eliminating the public key infrastructure (PKI) requirements for deploying Windows.
  • Microsoft fixed an issue that prevented users from uninstalling and reloading drivers when the drivers were protected by Hypervisor-protected Code Integrity (HVCI).
  • Microsoft fixed an issue that affected the Silent BitLocker enablement policy, which could inadvertently add a Trusted Platform Module (TPM) protector.
  • Microsoft fixed a reliability issue affecting the use of remote desktop applications to mount a client's local drive to a Terminal Server session.
  • Microsoft fixed an issue that caused right-to-left (RTL) language text to be displayed as left-aligned on File Explorer command menus and context menus.
  • Microsoft fixed an issue that prevented you from using the Windows Management Instrumentation (WMI) bridge to reach the LanguagePackManagement Configuration Service Provider (CSP).
  • Microsoft opened the Microsoft Office files in the Start menu recommendation section in the browser. This can happen if the device does not have the proper Microsoft Office license and the file is stored in Microsoft OneDrive or Microsoft SharePoint. If a license is available, the file will open in the desktop application.
  • Microsoft fixed an issue that caused the keyboard and Remote Desktop Protocol (RDP) client for remote desktop sessions to mismatch at login.
  • Microsoft added the clock and date to the taskbar of other monitors when you connect them to your device.
  • Microsoft adds weather content to the left side of the taskbar if the taskbar is aligned in the center. The Widgets panel appears on the left side of the screen when you hover over the weather, and disappears when you stop hovering over the area.
  • Microsoft added the ability to quickly share an open application window directly from the taskbar to a Microsoft Teams call.
  • Microsoft fixed an issue where an empty area on the taskbar would appear with an incorrect tooltip after you hovered over another icon such as battery, volume, or Wi-Fi.
  • Microsoft fixed this issue that occurs when you try to write a Service Body Name (SPN) alias (e.g. www / FOO) and the HOST / FOO already exists on another object. If RIGHT_DS_WRITE_PROPERTY is on the SPN property of the collision object, you will receive an "Access Denied" error.
  • Microsoft fixed an issue where offline files on a network drive would disconnect after you restarted the operating system and logged in. This issue occurred if the Distributed File System (DFS) path was mapped to a network drive.
  • Microsoft fixed an issue where the authentication dialog would be displayed twice when you mounted a network drive.
  • Microsoft added support for hot adding and removing non-volatile memory (NVMe) namespaces.
  • Microsoft added the ability to instantly mute and unmute Microsoft Teams calls from your taskbar. During a call, an active microphone icon will appear on the taskbar so you can easily mute the audio without having to return to the Microsoft Teams call window.

Windows 11 Dev channel update delayed again

Microsoft today released Windows 11 Build 22000.526 for the Beta and Release Preview channels, but in the Dev channel, Microsoft has been holding off on updates for a while.

Microsoft said on February 4 that the release candidate did not meet release quality standards, so no new version is available for Windows Insiders in the Dev channel. Hopefully it will restart next week.

And on Feb. 10, Microsoft again claimed they were still working out some issues, so there was still no new release this week.

Microsoft previously revealed plans to conduct Windows 11 testing throughout 2022, saying it plans to let Windows 11 testers evaluate more features that may not be version-specific.

The Dev channel for Windows 11 testing will now really be where experimental features appear, while the Beta channel will contain features that are closer to all users. This could mean that new features will even appear in the Beta channel first if they are closer to being announced.

Microsoft now plans to offer Windows 11 testers an option to switch from the Dev channel to the Beta channel to avoid more experimental features in progress.
