Internet speed can greatly affect our online experience, especially when we need a good network environment to perform an important task or when we are in a hurry to download and use a file. However, some users have reported that the Internet speed has become slower after upgrading to Windows 11, and it takes more time to download than before. So how should you solve such problems?

First, some applications running in the background (cloud storage applications, torrent software, streaming videos, etc.) may be using your network, so if you don't need to use them at the moment, you can close them first to make better use of your bandwidth. Use the shortcut Ctrl + Shift + Esc to open Task Manager, then you can see which apps are using your connection in the Processes tab and close the ones you don't need.

In addition, Windows also allows you to download data from other PCs. If you don't use this option often, this feature may be using your bandwidth without you knowing it. You can disable this feature in the Delivery Optimization settings, or you can customize the bandwidth available for downloading updates in the same settings.

1. Open the Settings screen via Windows + I.

2. Select “Windows Update” from the tabs listed in the left navigation pane, and click “Windows Update” on the right.

3. Click “Advanced options”, and then select “Delivery Optimization".

4. Toggle of the option that “Allows downloads from other PCs”.

5. Now, click “Advanced options”, and under “Absolute bandwidth”, you can allocate the bandwidth used for downloading updates in the background or foreground.

You can also use the percentage slider for other advanced settings, such as bandwidth used for uploading updates.

After changing the bandwidth settings, check if the slow download speed issue in Windows 11 has been resolved.

There are many ways you can try to improve your Internet speed, the above are just some common actions, hopefully they will help you make the most of your bandwidth.
