Microsoft is experimenting with another Windows 11 component that can handle video decisions more simply. The company is adding a video mute/unmute programming switch directly to the taskbar of the new operating system, which will allow customers to easily turn off the microphone during or during a video call.

This component will initially be limited to Windows fans, who are important to Microsoft's Windows Insiders program so that it can be tested before being pushed to everyone. According to TechRadar, it is currently available as a component of Windows 11 Insider Preview Build 22494.

“We are beginning to roll this experience out to a subset of Windows Insiders with Microsoft Teams for work or school installed and ramp it up over time,” Microsoft said of the feature. “This means not everyone will see this right away with their Teams calls.”
