How to Get Data from the Backup Image Without Restoring

Learn to view data in the backup image or get some of the files from an image backup without the need to restore the image.

Introduction

In some cases, you may just would like to get some files from the backup image with no need to restore the whole image. Or for insurance reasons, you want to check the files in the backup images. You can use Explore Image in Backupper to mount the image as a virtual drive.

Solution

1. Run AOMEI Backupper.

2. Click Tools --> Explore Image. Then choose the image file you want to explore and click Next.

3. Select a backup point to explore the image and choose Mount the image file as a virtual partition. Click Next.

4. Assign a drive letter (use G: and H: here) to the virtual drive. Click Next to mount the image.

5. Click Finish after the operation is completed.

6. Go to This PC and you will see the virtual G: and H: drives. You can view and copy the files now.

7. You can click Tools --> Explore Image to detach the virtual drive after you view the files.
