Introduction

When you try to install a new version of AOMEI Backupper with the previous version uninstalled, there is a chance in a million that you may receive the message below:

"Detected that your computer has AOMEI Backupper installed. Do you want to uninstall it and then reinstall it?" This indicates that AOMEI Backupper has not been uninstalled completely.

Solutions

1. If Backupper folder still exists in the installation directory, manually delete it. To do this, you may need to close ABService.exe under Progress in Windows Task Manager. You can press Ctrl-Alt-Delete from anywhere, and you’ll see a link to launch the Task Manager. You can also right-click the taskbar and select “Task Manager.”

2. You may also need to delete something in Registry. Press Windows + R, type "regedit" in the box, and press Enter to launch Registry. Locate the following and delete them:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Uninstall\AOMEI Backupper

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\services\ambakdrv

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\services\ammntdrv

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\services\amwrtdrv

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Class\{71A27CDD-812A-11D0-BEC7-08002BE2092F}
