Solutions for upgrade failure: AOMEI Backupper has been installed in your system. Do you want to uninstall it?

Introduction:

When you try to install a new version of AOMEI Backupper with previous version uninstalled, there is a chance in a million that you may receive the message below:

"AOMEI Backupper has been installed in your system. Do you want to uninstall it?" This indicates that AOMEI backupper has not been uninstalled completely.

Solutions:

  1. If Backupper folder still exists in the installation directory, manually delete it. To do this, you may need to close ABService.exe under Progress in Windows Task manager. You can press Ctrl-Alt-Delete from anywhere and you’ll see a link to launch the Task Manager. You can also right-click the taskbar and select “Task Manager.”

  2. You may also need to delete something in Registry. Click on "Start, run" and type "regedit" in the box labeled "Open."to launch Registry. Locate the following and delete them:

    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Uninstall\AOMEI Backupper

    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\services\ambakdrv

    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\services\ammntdrv HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\services\amwrtdrv

    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Class\{71A27CDD-812A-11D0-BEC7-08002BE2092F}
