Hello Ringsoft, I understand you tried to make a Backupper USB utility on a 2TB drive. 2TB is an extremely large size for a utility that is about 1GB. You could try making the Backupper USB utility on a small drive, such as 32GB 3.x to see if that solves the error. I believe the Partition Table is supposed to be MBR. You could try the PE Builder 2.0, but it does not support internal NVMe disks, only external.

In the uncommon case that you must use Disk Clone method with exact sector-by-sector setting, I recommend using Partition Assistant for that instead of Backupper, because only PA will copy the Partition Table MBR/GPT; in my experience Backupper does not copy the Partition Table MBR/GPT, even with Disk Clone & sector setting.

    Create Backupper WinPE USB:
Please add custom drivers, such as NVMe, if necessary
    https://www.ubackup.com/help/create-bootable-disk.html

    Create Partition Assistant WinPE USB:
Please add custom drivers, such as NVMe, if necessary
    https://www.diskpart.com/help/make-bootable-cd-wizard.html

Aomei WinPE Builder 2.0 USB, includes: Partition Assistant, Backupper, Recuva, OSF Mount, CPU-Z, Bootice. Does not support internal NVMe disks.

Other great free tools not from Aomei:

Hirens Boot PE - live USB tool suite
To add custom drivers such as NVMe, simply put them into the “CustomDrivers” folder. Hirens is not recommended in combination with Ventoy USB.
    Clonezilla - non-GUI cloning
    https://clonezilla.org/downloads.php
If the source disk has Bad Sectors, use Expert Mode > "-rescue" option to continue cloning all readable sectors Sandisk Extreme Pro USB Stick:

  • @Ringsoft, Could you take a screenshot so that we check the problem further?
  • Thanks. Got a 256GB USB drive, and was able to make boot drive.
The next step was to backup, did that.

    Then the restore step: https://www.ubackup.com/articles/transfer-from-one-surface-pro-to-another-8523.html

    1. Connect the bootable USB drive with the disk image to your new Surface Pro. Boot the new device from the bootable USB.

    2. You’ll see loaded AOMEI Backupper once the device boots up successfully. Click Restore > Select Image File.

    3. Locate the disk image on the USB drive and click Open.

    4. Select Restore the entire disk, click on the disk and click Next.

    ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

in 3. we find "Disk Backup" folder on the USB drive and there are

    "Disk backup"

    "Disk backup1"

    "Disk backup2"

    ...

    "Disk backup18"

Which of the 19 files to pick?

  • Pick the .ADI file that has the correct creation date. To view the .ADI file creation date, you may need to view the file in a File Explorer.
  • @Ringsoft, you can select Disk backup18 to do the restore. So, it will restore to the status when the backup is created.
If you want to restore to the older status, you can select the old backup version.

I'm confused. We did only ONE backup from the source computer, and it created 19 files in that folder. All files "Disk backup"..."Disk backup17" 4,186,116KB, and backup18 which is is 3,654,659KB. It's like when doing the backup it can't store more than 4GB on each file.

  • Tried to use as you instructed, but it did not work
