I need some guidance here. I have been using AOMEI Backupper for years and have several copies. However, I had assume that restore would work, but it appears that there are cases where it will not. I need to know what they are so I have a way …No, I assume we need to do that?
OK, I did some experimentation. NTFS are significantly faster than exfat. is this because backupper is taking advantage of journaling?
Just to clarify, you were saying that the reason it took so long is because AOMEI will have to read every sector to backup the exfat volume. Do we need to do the same thing for NTFS backup? Is NTFS backup inherently faster (note I am referring to im…What if the file system is NTFS. how would AOMEI backup that? Does it use the same sector by sector backup.PaulThank you for your reply.I think there's been a miscommunication, I thought I was being clear on my previous post. The current situation is:- The drive is a 4.5 TB Usb external drive. It is not a boot disk.
So the way a veracrypt container works is that you mount the file as a drive letter. However, when you back up the file, you need all activity to stop, so you dismount it. You don't want writes to the container while it's being backed up.
…Actually, the question is more about an encrypted file container sitting on top of a unencrypted file system. Here's what I did.1. Create a 4.5 Tb encrypted container.2. Mount container and copy in 80 Gb of files. Thanks for the explanation. I have two follow up questions.1. How does Backupper know what sectors are in use? Since it only works on particular file system, does it query the OS to find out which sectors are in use?Even when I restore it to a bigger disk, it still do not boot properly. I don't know if the boot record for linux system just don't get saved properly. In any case, I encountered similar issues in the past, so I am thinking that AOMEI's may not work…I poked around and it appeared that this feature was requested back in 2017, so I am not certain that you will be implementing this feature any time soon?
I believe the error is:Information code 8:Partition table overlap & the following operations…
Yes, I am aware of this. This is a problem if you go and do a file backup of something like c:\users\<person>. A lot of issues seems to come from c:\users\<person>\appdata. Ideally, you should back up this directory since it may con…So if you have a system where you have a separate system and data partition (the user directory is on a different partition or disk, you can technically setup a system backup on the system partition and a partition backup on the data partition? Ther…198 Gb of data from a internal SSD to a USB 3 USB drive. Write speed was about 24 Mb/s to 30 Mb/s which seems normal. I notice that it seems to take a really long time to scan the drive for files like 30 minutes or so.
Thanks, so in specific circumstances, a system backup is a full backup, but why do we even have a system backup? Wouldn't a disk backup be enough? In what use cases would you create a system backup?
I was able to create a boot disk but downloading PE builder and building a boot usb. The boot usb should include a aomei backupper app https://www.ub…I upgraded to the latest version from 4.06 to the latest, but the resulting file backup was even a little slower than before, now a backup took 2 hour and 45 minutes now takes 3 hours. I think file backup is one of AOMEI's weakness. The image s…As an experiment, I attempt to backup 22Gb of file data. It took about 16 minutes on Backupper 4 and 8 minutes on Backupper 6. Keep in mind that this is not a true test because I am doing this on different machine, but both are going to the sam…So a file backup of a single user directory on a SSD to a usb 3 portable drive ends up with a 197 Gb file that takes about 3.5 hours. Imaging with verification of the entire 1 TB drive is faster than file backup of 200 Gb. If I enable verificat…Thanks, but doing that step is not necessary since the WinPE build works fine.
yes, the partition manager usb had the same issue. When I boot up the computer, the drive did not show up as a boot volume. The one generated by PE-builder appears to work though.
OK,I experimented some more and notice that the menu does work. Apparently, the disk I select that did not work turned out to be the USB boot created by Acronis backupper, so the generated usb keys are always MBR and cannot be conver…So none of the boot disk build from AOMEI partition Manager and Backupper will boot on my laptop without turning on legacy boot mode. After some poking around, it appears that I have to download AOMEI WINPE build instead at:
