It's not the size of the source disk that matters, it's the size of your "used" space. So if your data takes up 200Gb of space you would need at least 150Gb free space on the destination drive as the image is usually compressed. And assuming you mig…

When you selected PATH on the first restore screen, where you able to browse to that location? If the file is able to be seen in your windows browser, it should be able to be seen in the Aomei browser.

Oh, besides both being MBR, was the target SSD blank? Did you clean it in diskpart? I've done many installs from a disk image with no problems if the target was clean and formatted the same as the source.
-
Trying to work this through. When you booted to new drive was it the only drive connected? That helps system eliminate some conflicts. If this wasn't the problem, you could DOWNLOAD and try Aomei's boot fix tool:

We're both drives formatted the same... MBR or GPT?

If you've followed many threads on this forum it has been repeated many times that the only way you know if a backup you made will work is to do a test restore. This applies to ANY back up software. FYI, I've done test restores with Aomei using MBR,…

Please read my post from 23 March. I am really sorry to continue to say Aomei is broken and is no longer reliable. I will still continue to hope there is a fix for this but I cannot use the program any longer until it is fixed and noted as such. I d…

The records where the backup is located is really not necessary. You can browse for it's location when doing a restore. You should not be saving a backup image to the drive you're imaging. If you're doing a System image, you would keep that image on…

Was the disk you were trying to clone to formatted MBR by any chance? You can only have 4 partitions on an MBR disk. You can convert it to GPT easily in diskpart if that was the case. Google how to or repost here and I can give you directions.
-
A system image of a GPT/UEFI formatted disk will restore the partitions necessary to boot the PC as well as the OS partition. You can create the bootable media (DVD, USB) using the directions from here: in Make- and restore images images bij AOMEI backupper with UEFI/GTP method to boot into Windows 10/6 Comment by Flyer April 2019

Make a system image with Aomei to an external USB drive. On the new PC, plug in that USB drive, start from the bootable media you created, check the universal restore option and restore to the drive you want the system on.
-
I'm not sure if you are missing the point here or if I am misunderstanding what you're doing.
You don't need a bootable CD to use a clone. You just remove the old drive and replace with the clone. What you will have is a system running and look… -
I just noticed in your first post, you said you saved a "clone"??? A clone is a direct replacement for your current drive. In the last sentence you refer about running another "back up". I'm assuming you meant to say "back up" in the first sentence…

No. But the backup media that you boot with should be made using the Pro version for that function to be available.
-
Is the WD drive formatted Fat32? Your system may need that to boot.
-
A clone is an exact copy of the drive you cloned and would be used to replace that drive as in going from an HD drive to an SSD or from a smaller SSD to a larger. After the clone, you just replace the old drive with the new.
A backup image is u… -
You can do what you want with the free version. Some tasks that would be done automatically for you with the paid version you will have to do automatically.... like deleting older versions if running out of space, etc.
You can use a USB driv… -
See if you can boot from it. Most will work. The 98% is an Aomei error. If not, try creating using the ISO option.

On the Partition Clones, are they all different partitions or the same one? Where did you clone them to? The 4TB drives? If you cloned data files and you were able to navigate to the cloned location and the files were able to be opened, then the Clo…

If you went from an SSD system drive to a mechanical HD, that is exactly what would happen. Most people change their boot drive from an HD to an SSD for speed. In fact, one of the best upgrades you can do for a PC is to have an SSD drive as your mai…

I wish I could help you more with this, but I still don't understand what you did. Your terminology might be the problem. You say you backed up the drive. Then you say you cloned the drive. Then you say you dragged and dropped the files. All of thes…
-
If the files were good after you cloned them then it appears Aomei worked as advertised. So what you have now may be a Windows problem. You could try to run a repair on the drives by running chkdsk. Google that and you'll find many examples of how t…

You said you "backed up" the 1 TB drive. Did you try to "restore" it to another drive? A backup is an image file of what you backed up and is meant to be restored. It is not a copy of what you had. And exactly what did you back up. The whole drive o…

1. Where did you make the backup image to? Internal drive, external drive, network share, web? Never heard of using Aomei to backup to the web???
2. Does the new PC have a blank C, System drive?
3. Have you tried using your old C drive as … -
Yes it will be and look the same.

It should be fine. If you have multiple drives, they can be a mix of MBR and GPT. One is not reliant on the other.
I'm assuming that your current system has your OS on a MBR drive and your Seagate is working fine. That would be the same when yo… -
Try using Q-Dir. Sometimes that works when Explorer won't. Download here: http://q-dir.com/
Just hook up the new drive, boot the PC using your rescue startup disk and click on restore (system or disk). Navigate to the backup image you want restored as the source and have the new drive as the drive to restore to. That's it. Restart your PC…I can only repeat this so many times. Aomei support is aware of this but nothing has been done yet to fix it. Your backups are okay, they are just not using VSS to make them. But be aware that VSS is broken for any other service that needs to use it…
