changing backup scheme

My question concerns making changes to an existing scheme. I recently created a differential scheme for a full backup after each 6 differentials and a clean up to keep the latest 7 backups.  After the initial Full and 2 differentials were created I changed the scheme to a Full after 3 differentials and to keep the latest 4.  I thought it would then just create 1 more differential and then another full but it didn't.  The next backup was a full backup. So, I am asuming that anytime you make ANY change to the scheme and hit the save button it resets the scheme to start over from a full backup and it just ignores any previous backups that have been made, and those previous backups will then need to be manually deleted.  Is this correct?

Hello rcstan, I don't have experience with differential backups, but maybe this can help. I hope someone can look at your problem soon, and you can always contact them directly as well.

  • @Rcstan, Yes, when you modify the backup scheme, it will reset the scheme to start over from a full backup and it just ignores any previous backups that have been made. Please manually delete the previous backup versions, and then re-set the scheme again.
