Backupper has suddenly stopped backing up. Attempts to restart just hang.

This is a warning for everybody. Check that Backupper is actually working. Do not rely on the completion messages that are sent by Backupper.
Have tried to fix (several times) by:
1. Reinstalling and running without system protection (no virus, no system security, etc.)
2. Disconnecting attached drives and restarting
3. Uninstalling and Reinstalling Backupper
4. Verifying that Aomei backup service was running in each case.
5. Starting in SafeMode ... message from Backupper says can't start in safe mode
None worked. We do not have dedicated IT personnel and can hardly afford the time it takes for all this work. At this time, we have turned to temporary (we hope) alternatives and hope that you can fix the problem quickly.
This situation is especially dangerous since there is no indication that the backups have not completed, and we have complacently relied on the not working messaging reliability (clearly a mistake we will not repeat for any backup software we may use). It could be catastrophic for those of us who rely heavily on the backups -- we have had to recover critical data from corrupted systems and damaged equipment several times and have been pleased with Backupper.
We have registered a support call with Aomei and hope they let us know soon if it can't be fixed. We have used Backupper for some time on multiple PCs and have always had good results and would like to remain with Backupper but it is imperative that we get a quick fix or find another way.

We have used Backupper for a long time on multiple PCs. Backupper was working fine up to some time ago (we hadn't noticed it was not backing up and can't figure out when it stopped). This has occurred on all our 4 different PCs of different manufacture and opsys win11 and Win10. All the systems have the latest updates to Windows. Bitlocker is not installed.
