Tried to expand C: and now windows won't boot

I tried to use your product to expand the size of my C drive. It said it needed to restart into windows PE environment and after that, all it says now is missing BCD.

I can see my drive is still there if I boot into windows 10 bootable and look at the drives under the command prompt but my windows drive is no longer C:

I tried using the BCD repair in windows but it thinks there is no windows install. I can still see all the data on the drive.

How do I fix what your product broke?

Hello Bigbacon, thank you for your question. It sounds like you were using Partition Assistant (PA) to enlarge Windows C, but then there was a blue screen of death with a BCD error?
The driver letter, C, D, E etc is fluid, it is not a firm letter. The Disk ID / UUID is a firm number (unless changed manually).
Unfortunately Bigbacon, you are in data recovery, until your drive is working again. Please use your backup software, such as Backupper (BU) or PA to backup your entire disk, before attempting repairs.
After creating a full disk backup, you could try the classic commands:
Diskpart > lis dis > sel dis # > lis par > lis vol
    bootrec /fixmbr
    bootrec /fixboot
    bootrec /scanos
    bootrec /rebuildbcd
    Bcdboot <Letter>:/Windows

Could you please reply with the answers to:
    1) Which motherboard mode Legacy-BIOS, UEFI-CSM, UEFI-nonCSM?
    2) What PC brand, year, model #, desktop or laptop?
    3) HDD, SSD 2.5", SSD M.2 SATA, SSD M.2 NVMe?
    4) Hard Drive partition table MBR or GPT?
    5) Aomei product tier Standard, Pro, Other?
    6) Version of Windows, 10, 11, Home, Pro, Enterprise?
    7) Please post a screenshot of your BSOD error, and Diskpart > lis dis > sel dis # > lis par > lis vol
    Thank you.

  • @Bigbacon, "It said it needed to restart into windows PE environment"---So, it performed the expand operations under WinPE mode?
Could you create and boot the computer from WinPE bootable media, and then take a screenshot of Disk Management under WinPE so that we check your disks.
You can use AOMEI PE Builder to create the WinPE on another working computer: http://www2.aomeisoftware.com/download/pe/2.0/full/PEBuilder.exe
