AOMEI Partition Assistant Cannot choose PreOS mode to shrink drive.

When I want to shrink my C: partition, I need to restart. However, I cannot choose PreOS mode. When I choose WinPE, there is a DLL missing error for winpeshl.exe. Please help!

Hello Cube, I am sorry to hear about the winpeshl.exe error. Could you please reply with a screenshot of the error?
PA is great software with an impressive number of features, however for shrinking partitions I recommend Disk Management, because it is significantly faster. Please go to Windows Search > Disk Management. Or you could go to Desktop > right click > create shortcut > diskmgmt.msc. If you prefer to use PA, you could use the USB version, which will probably not have that error.
    Partition Assistant WinPE USB:
Add custom drivers, such as NVMe, if necessary.

    Aomei WinPE 2.0 Builder USB:
Partition Assistant, Backupper, Recuva, OSF Mount, CPU-Z, Bootice. Does not support any additional drivers, such as some internal NVMe disks.

  • @ItsCube, Please try to create a WinPE bootable USB, and then boot the computer from WinPE USB, and then do operations.

Hi, I have tried that, and there is a missing api-ms-win-crt-runtime-l1-1-0.dll file. I have copied it from my system into the sources/boot.wim in the WinPE Bootable USB (AOMEI PartAssist ProgFiles and Windows/System32). I will try later.
  • @ItsCube, As for the error, please try to use AOMEI PEBuilder to create WinPE bootable media, which integrate AOMEI Partition Assistant. And then, try again.
