System restore image won't boot on new PC

So I'm trying to load my system image onto my new PC and have run into the problem of 'System Image Restore Fails Because of EFI/BIOS'. I've got Backupper Pro and have referenced the steps in this article, https://www.ubackup.com/articles/system-image-restore-fails-because-of-efi-bios-4348.html, and have gone thru the 'Advanced solution to system image restore failed' but my laptop still fails to boot. Not sure know what I'm missing. Please help!!

Hello, Natty, I understand you need some help. We need more information from you, could you please reply with the answers to:
    1) Source motherboard mode Legacy-BIOS, UEFI-CSM, UEFI-nonCSM?
    2) Destination motherboard mode Legacy-BIOS, UEFI-CSM, UEFI-nonCSM?
    3) What is the PC brand, year, model #, desktop or laptop?
    4) HDD, SSD 2.5", SSD M.2 SATA, SSD M.2 NVMe?
    5) Hard Drive partition table MBR or GPT?
    6) Version of Windows, 10, 11, Home, Pro, Enterprise?
    7) Please post a screenshot.
The answers to question 1 & 2 will confirm that you are using the exact same motherboard mode in both PC.

  • Hi:

    1) UEFI-CSM
    2) UEFI-nonCSM
    3) source is a Lenovo x131e, desination is a brand new Lenovo IdeaPad Slim 3
    4) Source is SSD 2.5, destination is NVMe
    5) Both are GPT
    6) Windows 10 Pro
    7) Just need clarity on what to screenshot

Additionally, I've taken the source SSD out and connected it via USB to the new laptop to try booting that way and the IdeaPad says there's no boot device either

Thank you for that information. To troubleshoot this, match your source and destination motherboard mode, change your destination PC to UEFI-CSM mode, if it has that, some new motherboards don't have that option anymore.
Please screenshot the error, and your disk from Disk Management, Partition Assistant (PA), or Cmd > Diskpart > lis dis.
If this does not solve your issue, please use BackUpper (BU) > disk backup > universal restore.
If that does not solve your problem, please do BackUpper (BU) > disk backup with exact-sector-by-sector method > universal restore.
    Backupper WinPE USB:
Add custom drivers, such as NVMe, if necessary. Does not work with some monitors.

Aomei WinPE Builder 2.0 USB, includes: Partition Assistant, Backupper, Recuva, OSF Mount, CPU-Z, Bootice. Does not support any additional drivers, such as some internal NVMe disks.

  • @Nattydread1229, Did you restore a system backup? or disk backup? Did you install AOMEI Backupper on the old computer and run it to create the backup? We suggest that you create a disk backup for the boot drive.
Please try to create a WinPE bootable USB of AOMEI Backupper, and then boot the new computer from WinPE to do the restore disk backup again.
