Aomei Boot Disk

I have a Dell Inspiron 17 3000 running windows 10 with one disk as setup by Dell.  I have created a system backup and a disk backup.  I ran the boot disk creation tool.  I chose WinPE and checked the download box.  I created an ISO successfully.  I burned the ISO to a CD.  When I boot from the CD (F12 choose CD) it runs Dell support assist OS recovery.  I see no way to choose to run Aomei Backupper.  My goal is to be able to restore the system if the hard drive dies.

You could push F2 to enter UEFI, change boot order, so that when bootable USB or DVD is present, it will boot to that.

Aomei WinPE Builder 2.0 USB, includes: Partition Assistant, Backupper, Recuva, OSF Mount, CPU-Z, Bootice. Does not support any additional drivers, such as some internal NVMe disks.

  • @Brnaca, Could you try to directly create WinPE bootable CD or USB via AOMEI Backupper?
In addition, please try to download and install Windows ADK and Windows PE Addon. After that, please try to create WinPE by unchecking the option.
As for downloading and installing Windows ADK and Windows PE Addon, please refer to here:

  • I tried to create a bootable CD using AOMEI Backupper.  It failed to create the CD.  It hung at 100%.  I then successfully created (checking the download box) and burned the ISO using AOMEI Backupper.  I am running Windows 10 Pro Version 10.0.19045 Build 19045.  I am not sure if I should download the ADK for 2004 or 1903.

I don't know how BackUpper (BU) could fit on a CD, because the ISO is 1GB, and CDs are a max of 700MB or so. Try using a DVD. You could also try making Aomei PE Builder 2.0 is a combo of BU, Partition Assistant (PA), but it is only 435MB, likely because it does not include as many drivers as BU, PA stand-alone WinPE. If it does not work, you could create a new Windows user account, and BU would already be there, and you could try again.

  • @Brnaca, Please download the ADK for 2004.
  • Got it working.  When I first created an ISO it fit on a CD.  I downloaded the 2004 ADK and the PE add on.  I created another ISO and tried to burn it to a CD.  The OS informed me that this ISO was too large for a CD so I burned it to a DVD.  When I tried to boot from it (press F12 and get a temp boot menu) the system booted to Dell recovery.  This time however, I noticed a screen that briefly popped up saying hit any key to boot from CD or HD.  This was after I chose to boot from CD.  Apparently the Dell recovery partition takes over the boot and if you don't interrupt it that is what you get.  Either way, when I hit the space bar it booted from the DVD and AOMEI booted.  The first CD may have worked if I saw this.  Thanks for everyone's help.  Hope this helps other Dell laptop users.
  • Thank you for letting me know how you solved it. I appreciate you. It helps me too.
