Unable to see drive on HP Laptop with 8th gen chipset and intel rapid storage

I am trying to backup a customer laptop with an intel 8th gen i3 and intel rapid storage and optane. When I boot the USB media I can't see the 1tb toshiba HDD. I assume I need to install the updated Intel driver but when I do this in the USB media creation tool nothing seems to happen and the resulting media still doesn't show the drive for me to back up.
