First time complete backup

I would like to construct a multi stage backup, eg, System Backup (monthly), programs and data files backed up incrementally, as changes occur 3 times. HOW DO I STRUCTURE THIS BACKUP ?

    Did you install programs and save your data files on other partitions, not C: drive?
