Main Threads:failed: bad file number
  • I downloaded the windows 10 iso direct from Microsoft and tried to run from pxe but after many lines of dots on the screen it says failed:  bad file number

  • Did the ISO match your version of Windows? 1703, 1709, etc??? (I'll be gone for a week so someone else will have to continue this with you... maybe they have another idea.)

  • Well I tried this on a usb and it worked fine so I assume so.

  • The PXE boot tool only supports PE systems.

  • Oh, I thought you could load iso files to client computers with the pxe boot.  I read that you can load a network share and load from that method instead.  Need to get more educated.
