System Backup differential

Hi:

I have a System backup scheduled as differentail after a full back up was done. This has been scheduled every day for the last month. I want to now go back and delete some of the old backups in the destination file/external harddrive. But all the differential backups vary greatly in size. I expected them to get larger and larger in size as time goes on because it's backing up from the full back up that was done one month ago. Which differntials would I delete since they all vary in size?

    Well, it is recommended to delete the earlier versions.

    That a new differential backup is (a lot) smaller than a previous one seems strange indeed.

    Are you sure it is a differential backup and not an incremental?
