Can't remove mounted drives after Explore Image

edited February 2015 in AOMEI Products Support

Hi

I am using Backupper v2.2 and Windows 8.1 and tried to use the Explore Image feature. The feature mounted 2 drives (E:/ and F:/) to explore the images. These didn't work (when you click on them it says Device not ready).

Also I can't remove them now from Windows Explorer.

I can see them in Explorer. http://i.imgur.com/yDjmKir.png

but I can't see them in Disk Management to remove them.

Also your instructions say you can go back to Explore Image in Backupper and it will give the option to dismount the drives however it doesn't give this option, instead it offers to mount the images to drives G: and H:.

How can I dismount these drives?

  • You can just restart your computer

  • We have this problem too.  The drive letters monted during the image explore process persist even if we try to remove them as instructed in the Explore image applet.  The registry shows C: D:  (CD ROM) drives.  None of the virtual drives can be opened - we receive device is not ready messages.  Restarting the server isn't really an option.  Is this a bug or am I missing something here?

    I know that this is an old thread, but it was my first result on Google when I had the same problem, so I thought I'd share my research.

    To unmount or eject a volume or image that you have explored:

    * open AOMEI Backupper.

    * click Utilities->Explore Image

    * select the volume or image that your want to dismount

    * select Detach.

    And it will detach the virtual partitions.
