Deletion of backup files (AOMEI Backupper Standard)

Good morning.

I've been taking weekly full backups plus twice a week incremental backups for a few months now without ever deleting any backup file. So the backup files I have are:

> Backup.adi (full)
> Backup1.adi (incremental)
> Backup2.adi  (incremental)
> Backup3.adi (full)
> ...
> Backup50.adi

Now I am running out of disc space and I was wondering if I can just go ahead and delete old backup files, say Backup.adi to Backup20.adi? Will AOMEI Backupper continue with Backup51.adi for the next backup or will it start over with Backup.adi after deleting the first 20 files?

Can anyone tell me what's the best practise for this?

Cheers,
Rob

  • You can delete the old backups before the last full backup. If I calculate corectly, the backup49.adi should be full backup. You can delete 1-48. AOMEI Backupper will continue with Backup51.adi for the next backup

  • Thank you for the swift response. I just did what you suggested and a new test backup was created as expected as Backup51.adi

    Thanks a lot!
