Partition Assistant Technician bootable USB report 32bit os so no conversion to GPT possible

Hi,

In order to install Windows 11 I am trying to convert a Windows 10 (64bit) MBR to GPT. When using a bootable USB created in Partition Assistant conversion is not allowed because it reports as 32bit system (Windows 32bit will not work on a GPT partition so this disc will not be converted to GPT). Am I doing something wrong?

I have tried booting the USB as UEFI but it won't. Am I doing something wrong?

regards,
Raymond

  • Rayray, Windows 11 does not allow you to upgrade from a 32-bit Windows 10. Partition Assistant cannot convert 32-bit to 64-bit Windows installation. I am not aware of any tool that can convert a 32-bit Windows 10 to 64-bit.
"I have tried booting the USB as UEFI but it won't."
Please use Partition Assistant USB creation tool to convert your USB drive to MBR, then create the USB utility again. Then you can boot it in any motherboard mode -- Legacy BIOS, UEFI-CSM, UEFI-nonCSM.
    Backupper WinPE USB:
    https://www.ubackup.com/help/create-bootable-disk.html
Add custom drivers, such as NVMe, if necessary. Does not work on some Monitors.

    Partition Assistant WinPE USB:

Add custom drivers, such as NVMe, if necessary.

    Aomei (Win)PE Builder USB:
    https://www.ubackup.com/pe-builder.html
Best for PCs before 2020, includes Partition Assistant, Backupper, Recuva, 7zip, OSF Mount, CPU-Z, Bootice, DiskMgmt.msc. Supports x64 portable apps. Does not support any additional drivers, such as some internal M.2 NVMe disks.

  • @Rayray5571, Are you using the latest version of AOMEI Partition Assistant? Please run AOMEI Partition Assistant on the MBR Windows 10 (64bit), and then try to convert the disk. If you still get the error, please take a screenshot of the error message. And, please offer C:\Program Files (x86)\AOMEI Partition Assistant\log folder so that we check.
