Sorted! Somehow the boot files been placed on J: and that drive had been changed to the boot drive in the BIOS, although Windows is on C:. I have no idea how it happened, but I ought to have checked the BIOS sooner and saved myself a lot of troub…

Well, that was a failure. I deleted the boot files on J: and Windows would no longer boot. I managed to get it booting again by doing a repair with a Windows CD, but the boot files are on J: again instead of C:. I suspect this might be something …

The system boots fine from C:, all the system files are intact, so need to copy files anywhere. The system won't let me change or delete the files on the other drive and I've no intentions of trying to back up 800gb. in System backup wants to backup two drives Comment by martin March 2017

Thanks for the replies. Mouse and keyboard are both on USB2 ports. O/S was Win 10 Pro, but I am back on Win 7 Pro, so I will carry on using the CD I made with this O/S. If I get time, I will upgrade my other computer to Win 10 Pro and see if I ge…

Spot on, WebMaximus. I would normally watch the restore, but this particular time I was called to the phone, took longer than I expected, and when I returned the restore had finished. I had been expecting it to wait for some input.
Plenty of replies to other posts, but this is ignored. Doesn't fill me with confidence that this disastrous bug will be rectified.
This just happened to me, for the 2nd time. It happened a few months ago after I upgraded to 2.5 and I went back to 2.2. When 2.8 was released, I installed it and used it a number of times, including restoring the system a few times. Today when I…
Thanks, I tried a backup and the cache appears to take up very little space in the backup, As long as the cache is empty when I make a backup, it looks like it will be OK.
Will there ever be an option to exclude files? It's one…
Well, I have done quite a lot of testing but I haven't been able to replicate the problem. I suspected that it had something to do with my boot partition not being on HDD0, but I didn't manage to prove it, except that since I moved my boot partit…
Thank you, much appreciated.
I take it an earlier free version isn't available? I don't mind trying to replicate the problem, but I am not going to try until I can be confident of a restore afterwards.
The link you gave me is for the Pro version, I only had the free version so I can't use it.Sorry, the log files are gone as I managed to do a restore with a boot CD. I have a couple of spare HDDs so I will see if I can replicate the problem.
Thank you for the link to the earlier version.
I have just done another restore, being extremely careful about where I restored to, and once again it restored to the wrong partition. There's obviously problems with this latest version. Is there a download for earlier versions anywhere?
<…Problem solved. winre.wim was missing from the hidden Recovery folder (because I deleted it to keep a backup small enough to fit on a DVD.
Restore within windows also fails. It stops at 71% preparation after creating the same files and folders it creates when trying to make a boot CD or ISO. No error messages.
Thanks, but I will be reinstalling True Image un…
Further to the above, a folder is created in the system temp folder containing two further folders and two files for a total of around 350MB. I left it running for one hour but nothing else happens. Makedisk.exe is in memory but appears to be doi…
Same problem here.
When trying to create a WinPE boot CD, the process halts at 50% and eventually I have to click the X to close the window. I have the same problem whether I try to make an ISO or burn a CD
