PE Stick only boots into Windows system recovery

I tried several options (with/without drivers and portable apps) to create a PE stick with AOMEIN PE Builder 1.4.

I doesn't matter how I configurate it, the PE Stick only boots into Windows system recovery.

The following screenshot shows the content of the usb stick after
creating it with AOMEI PE Builder 1.4.

Is there something missing?

  • The directory structure looks right.

Not sure what you mean by boots into recovery options.

Is it the recovery options in pe that start up, or does the entire machine reboot and fire up recovery options from the hard drive ? If it the former, then winpeshl in the pe build is pointing the wrong way. If it is the latter, I am not surprised.

If you made that on an updated windows 7, I doubt the pe will boot at all.Recent updates have caused problems for pebuilder 1.4.

You will be better using Backupper to create it's own pe. That will be a simple pe, but it works fine.

I have made something to create advanced from windows 7.

You can use it if you like.

    d/l it from here: https://www.dropbox.com/s/x5hvbikg71xgkxk/A30.zip?dl=0

Unzip it onto your drive, so you have C:\A30 folder. Then rt click and run as admin on the

    Winpebuilderv3.cmd .

  • Hi,

    thanks for your help.

I meant the system boots into recovery options like in the following screenshot.

I can't reach the Windows desktop.

When I used your tool, I got this result in the log file "WIMINFO.TXT"

    ----------------------------------------------------------------

Deployment Image Servicing and Management tool
    Version: 6.1.7600.16385

    Error: 87

    The get-wiminfo option is unknown.
For more information, refer to the help by running DISM.exe /?.

The DISM log file can be found at C:\Windows\Logs\DISM\dism.log

Do I need WAIK or not? I installed WAIK v3.0.

  • One problem solved, now I have another one.

I did a fresh install of windows 7 on the pe building system and now I see the desktop.

But after a while I get a BSOD which contains something about "WimFsf.sys" and "PAGE_FAULT_IN_NONPAGED_AREA".

Are you familiar with this kind of problem?

  • Ok, problem solved. Lan driver was missing. I integrated it and now I can execute QWeb without BSOD.

  • Great.Glad it is working for you. There are several drivers included already. Which one was missing?
