MFC80U.DLL missing or wrong - error message
I started AOMEI Partition Assistant Pro Edition 5.6 twice, in Win 8.1 Pro 64-bit, and Event Viewer shows this error each time:
Activation
context generation failed for "C:\PROGRA~2\AOMEIP~1.6\MFC80U.DLL".
Dependent Assembly
Microsoft.VC80.MFCLOC,processorArchitecture="x86",publicKeyToken="1fc8b3b9a1e18e3b",type="win32",version="8.0.50608.0"
could not be found. Please use sxstrace.exe for detailed diagnosis.
There are two files MFC80U.DLL in C:\Program Files (x86)\AOMEI Partition Assistant Pro Edition 5.6, but they are version 8.00.50727.762
What is wrong, and how do I fix? Thanks

What operations had you made before you got this. Can you launch Partition Assistant normally?
No operations at all. I was just looking to see which drive was which volume, just to see what was there. I was launching normally.
It should be normal if you reinstall it.
It is the free version from Giveaway of the Day (I think on Dec 16, 2014).
I don't think I can re-install unless you send me a new activation key that will work today. Please advise.
I am now having the same problem with Aomei Backupper Pro 2.5 on Win 7 Pro SP1 64-bit.

After some more research, it might be that the Aomei programs are
looking for a YEAR or a VERSION of MS Visual C++ Redistributable that I
don't have on my PC.
Maybe they are looking for 2005 C++ Redistributable version 8.0.50608.
I don't think I have any version of 2005 C++ Redistributable (yet), and maybe the only version available today is 8.0.5727 ??
How should I proceed?
Bump. Aomei - no comment?
Ganon - this forum does not work well. Typing this now the third time.
Cannot re-install because was Giveaway of the Day.
Anyway, this error should not be happening at all. It makes your product unreliable when needed - a potential disaster.
