Boot Disk winxp

edited December 2014 in AOMEI Products Support

Gentlemen,

I have a net top (No dvd drive) with win xp as operating system.

Using your AOMEI backupper standard v 2.1, I created a boot up disc
on a usb sd card after installing the windows AIK and the program
   returned a success message:

   "........ALL OPERATIONS COMPLETED SUCCESSFULLY.

SUCCEEDED IN CREATING THIS BOOTABLE DEVICE.

YOU CAN USE THIS USB DEVICE TO BOOT YOUR COMPUTER

NOTE: AFTER COMPLETING THE BOOTABLE DISC, IF IT IS UNABLE TO BOOT
FROM THE COMPUTER, YOU COULD USE FAQ TO SOLVE THE ROBLEM"

When I tried to boot with this disk (AFTER changing the boot
sequence in the bios to boot FIRST from USB KEY:GENERIC STORAGE
DEVICE (R/F) F), the bios returns an error as follows:

"A DISK READ ERROR OCCURRED. PRESS CONTRL+ALT+DEL TO
     RESTART"

I MADE ANOTHER BOOT DISK AND IT MET WITH THE SAME RESULT.

I went to  your site and searched the FAQ as well as other
articles, BUT I DID NOT FIND ANYTHING TO EITHER KNOW OR FIX THIS
     ERROR.

Pl help me with a solution.

     Thanks

     Raman

  • I have successfully created a boot disk for windows 7 on a USB sd card and it WORKS alright! On booting with it, it boots and backupper auto starts........ Will try usb stick too as suggested

  • You may also need to check the boot order and priority in the BIOS.

  • USB has been made the first boot device in the bios, that is why I got the error  "A DISK READ ERROR OCCURRED. PRESS CONTRL+ALT+DEL TO
         RESTART"

  • Does this stick work on other PCs and does Windows Explorer allow you to navigate it?

Netbooks sometimes default to PXE boot, which is why I checked. Does the USB have a high priority entry in the BIOS?

    1. Yes sir, this stick works normally in this pc as well as another pc I have. And explorer IS alowing normal navigation of this stick and can, read, write.

    2. Yes Please: the usb is set to be the first priority in the bios for purpose of checking the boot disk created by the bacupper. It is baffling.......

    3. I tried with a brand new flash drive but in vain. both sd card as well as flash drive behaved exactly same and the bios reported the read error.

    4. Now that I have installed the windows AIK, can I use the windows to create boot disk? If yes, how can I make the backupper load automaticaly at boot time to enable restore?

    Thanks for your help
