System clone

I am trying to clone my hard drive to a larger SSD drive. It tells me it has to be done in the "restart" mode. When the computer restarts, it goes back to square one and I have to start the whole process again. It never clones the hard drive. Any suggestions?

Hello mliberio1, I understand you would like to clone your source disk to a larger SSD, but that when you attempt to do that, it asks you to restart, but the cloning process does not start.
I don't know the cause of this issue.
In my experience, it will only ask me to restart if I am using Partition Assistant to Clone Disk. If I am using Backupper to clone Disk, it will begin the cloning process without a restart. To be safe, I usually close all other applications during this cloning process. If you are using Partition Assistant and clone disk, and it should give you 2 slightly different choices, WinPE Mode, and Pre-OS mode. In which of these 2 reboot modes did you experience this issue?
You could try a different reboot mode in Partition Assistant, or you could clone disk in Backupper without a reboot, or you could clone disk while using Aomei WinPE USB:
    Create Backupper WinPE USB:
Please add custom drivers, such as NVMe, if necessary

    Create Partition Assistant WinPE USB:
Please add custom drivers, such as NVMe, if necessary

Aomei WinPE Builder 2.0 USB, includes: Partition Assistant, Backupper, Recuva, OSF Mount, CPU-Z, Bootice. Does not support internal NVMe disks.
