Different backup types not working as they should ?

Hi, new person here - moved away from Acronis as was problematic dealing with upgrades. Using Win11 22H2 - I installed latest version and did a full backup (2x2TB SSDs to a QNAP NAS). First backup was a full backup based on incremental - most options as per default. I scheduled this and then ran it (with option to create full backup first). This worked fine. Then re-ran it expecting it to just do changes. However, the task reported same time/data amount. Cancelled that. I then re-ran a disk backup of both SSD's with entire drives/full backup. Then set it to run incremental - exact same issue - came to run again and looked like it was going to do the lot again ! Acronis would do a full backup and then the incremental/differentials were very quick (like within 10 mins or so each night). Anyone any ideas / experienced same issue ?

  • OK, think the issue is the option "Create one full backup and always retain it". I removed that from the scheduled job and, this eve it ran for 20 mins doing the delta diffs. Seems like if this is set it just keeps doing a full backup as opposed to how you think it might work - just once at the very start. I checked the incremental and it has the changes I made today. so that's great news.
  • @MikeSpragg, Yes, it will create twice full backups when you check the option "Create one full backup and always retain it".
