Cloning an M2 nvme to an M2 nvme

Hi   :)

Using Backupper Pro.

I want to clone my Intel 660p 512Gb UEFI nvme to a new Western Digital Black 500Gb nvme. I do have 2 M2 slots on my motherboard (Asus ROG Crosshair VII), but one is difficult to get to easily.

Can I just clone the image to an internal hdd (or usb flash drive) and then use AOMEI PE Builder 2.0 (from usb) to boot the PC and restore the image to the new nvme?

Also, there are drivers installed in the current system for the Intel 660p. Will this create a conflict when the image is restored to the Western Digital Black? Should I uninstall the Intel drivers before the cloning process and let windows install its own drivers?

Thanks, Jaime

  • Yes, you could run a disk backup and use AOMEI PE Builder to restore the image to the new nvme. You don't need to uninstall drivers.
  • Okay, thanks for the help  :)
  • I have noticed that Backupper does not include the 16Mb "Other" partition when cloning or backing up my UEFI boot drive.
Is this created during the restore operation?
  • How do you know it does not include the 16Mb "Other" partition?
