Aomei Backupper Pro v 5.0 - user interface problem
Quite often I can't open the menu or tools menu, clicking on the items does nothing. Quitting and restarting the program doesn't help. A reboot usually fixes it, but only temporarily, as after one or two accesses to menu or tools the problem reappears.

Stop Kaspersky from monitoring the programme.
In Kaspersky Total Security under Settings/Protection/Application Control/Manage Applications
Search "AOMEI"
Right click "AOMEI Backupper" go to "Details and rules"
I made Backupper.exe an exclusion (check some boxes in the "Exclusion" tab)
Now all seems OK, need to check over a few days
this very kind of issue.
Bullguard was a little better at keeping user settings; I now use windows defender and the only real issue I can see with it is it may ask for program permissions to access the internet.
