VSS errors on System Backups

I always get 4 VSS errors when doing a System Backup as shown below:

Volume Shadow Copy Service error: Unexpected error querying for the IVssWriterCallback interface.  hr = 0x80070005, Access is denied.
. This is often caused by incorrect security settings in either the writer or requestor process.
Context:
   Writer Class Id: {7e47b561-971a-46e6-96b9-696eeaa53b2a}
   Writer Name: MSMQ Writer (MSMQ)
Writer Instance Name: MSMQ Writer (MSMQ)
   Writer Instance ID: {c3a3e1d7-8554-46a6-ad1e-444ba20b5082

2 are with the MSMQ Writer and 2 with the System Writer.
Are the backups any good?

I'm using Backupper Pro on a Win 10 Home Version 1809, build 17763.379.

I can only repeat this so many times. Aomei support is aware of this but nothing has been done yet to fix it. Your backups are okay, they are just not using VSS to make them. But be aware that VSS is broken for any other service that needs to use it until you run a fix for it. I can't get into how to do this without recommending another backup program that has a "fix VSS errors" function. It would not be proper using this forum for that. (Support is also aware that the other program can fix the VSS errors.) I've stopped using Aomei until this is fixed.

Maybe @admin can provide further details into how the fix for this is coming along???
  • For VSS errors from system writer, try this:
    Run c:\windows\system32\dcomcnfg.exe as administrator.
Expand console root, component services, computers.
Right-click My computer and pick properties.
Go to the COM Security tab.
Under Access Permissions, click Edit Default.
Add Network Service with allow local access checked (that's the default).

For other VSS errors, it may work to stop the associated services while the backup is running.
