Simple monthly full system backup with daily differential backups

I would like to create a full system backup once per month with daily differential backups. This should be a simple setup, but nothing I've tried has worked other than the full backups alone. All the differential backup files are as big as the full backup.
I have the Pro version running on Windows 10. Please provide the steps to perform this setup.

Go here first:
At the bottom of that article you will see (in blue) Schedule Backup and Backup Scheme.
Set the schedule for monthly and the day you want it on.
When you set up the scheme, make sure you have it set for Differential Backup.

Do you have bitlocker enabled?
