'"Time to display recovery options when needed" grayed out after using AOMEI Backupper. FIX

edited February 2015 in AOMEI Products Support

I'm using AOMEI Backupper Standard 2.2 on Windows 8.1 x64 Pro.

I installed AOMEI Backupper Standard on a newly-formatted PC.

The first time I Restored my PC, I noticed that AOMEI Backupper Standard
locked down a specific setting of Windows 8.1 x64 Pro!

About the respective Windows setting:

-Right-click on "This PC" desktop icon.
-Click on "Properties".
-Click on "Advanced System settings".
-Click on the "Advanced" tab.
-At the bottom, find the "Startup and Recovery"
and click on the "Settings..." button.

AOMEI Backupper Standard locked-down the check box related to
"Time to display recovery options when needed:"

I also attached the respective Snapshot (see the file 1.jpg)

-Why did this happen?

Even when I uninstalled AOMEI Backupper Standard,

the respective option remains locked!

Mod Edit: Changed title since it's not specific to Windows 8.1.

  • Wow! No comment since January 19, 2015 !!!

Am I the only one who noticed that issue

    (i.e. AOMEI Backupper Standard
locked down a specific setting of Windows 8.1)?

I'll check on my system, but I don't think on my tablet it matters as the UEFI takes care of that with an F11 key.

My W7 Ult also has this disabled.

  • Why this disabled Windows

    setting happens?

Is it neccessary for AOMEI to lock this Windows setting?

Even when I uninstalled AOMEI Backupper Standard,

    the respective option remains locked!

  • YES, it was Unlocked!

    I checked BEFORE installing AOMEI.

    I checked AFTER installing AOMEI.

  • I also spotted this.  I was shocked.  Even UNinstalling AOMEI will not allow it to be set.  I reinstalled Windows just to make sure that it WOULD be available before AOMEI was installed.  And it was.

This is just another in a long list of issues I have with this product.

  • Yes, AOMEI locks this Windows Setting Forever!

Even uninstalling AOMEI canNot restore this Windows Setting!!!

    Unfortunately, this Fix was temporary...

A new Back Up and Restore operation created the problem AGAIN.

The bootstat.dat  was lost again, and the Windows setting

"Time to display recovery options when needed" is greyed out AGAIN.

    Thanks, anyway...

  • Not sure why why the bootstatus file is not being being copied from the backup image. Perhaps they will fix that little bug in v2.5
