Difference between clone and backup?

What is the difference between system-clone and system-backup? When my HD crashes, can I restore it from a system-backup? Is system-backup corresponding to Windows system-restore?

    Which kind of backupmethod (file-, system- or disk-backup) shall I use if I need to restore a single file one day?

    Hans_Peter,

    File backup or disk backup would likely make the most sense for your purpose of restoring a single file.   If you do a disk backup and want a single file, the best option is to choose explore an image from the Utilities menu.  Mount the image, then browse to the file in Windows explorer to access it (run it or copy it somewhere else).
