Cloning and Reverting Back to HDD

HI everyone - plan on moving (cloning) my C: driver to a new SSD. Wondering whether I could revert back and use the HDD if my SSD fails or encounters issues (could I reinstall the HDD and reset BIOS to then boot from the old drive again)? Anyone know if this would work?
