System backup fails with error code 4121 Unknown file system

When I try to make a system backup, I get the error message seen in the subject line.

I've already ran chkdsk /r during boot as well as checked the disk in Windows 10. No issues reported.

My system partition is a 200 GB NTFS partition on a basic 2 TB disk.

    Was able to fix it by restoring the system partition a second time from an image I created earlier. After this, backing the system partition up works as normal again.
