What happens when backups are interrupted?

I have not been able to find the answer to this question: what happens if a backup is interrupted due to the computer going to sleep/hibernate, or the computer's battery dying mid-backup?

Is there a way I can set it so that backups will only occur when the laptop is plugged in? So that way I don't have to worry about the battery dying?

Also, is there a setting to prevent the computer from going to sleep during a backup?

  • Hello,
Generally, if the backup is running, the computer will not go to sleep/hibernate.
But, for the computer's battery dying mid-backup, the backup will fail when the computer is power down. You need to rerun the backup after. So, please keep full battery during backup.
And, if you set the schedule backup, when your computer is sleeping,  it will also wake up your computer at the schedule time.
  • If a backup fails, it will just rerun at the next scheduled time, correct?
  • I believe so.  However, If you have the Professional version of Backupper there is an option that can be set to run the missed backup on the next boot-up.
