Can't start Backupper Pro - suddenly stopped scheduled backups, GUI won't open

Have never had an issue with the software, so I got lazy & didn't notice that it  suddenly stopped backing up just about 2 months ago. Plenty of space on the drive, no system changes.

Now, can't open software user interface. Have uninstalled/reinstalled umpteen times, initially without wiping out configuration data, then with, and on last uninstall, even went into regedit to delete orphaned registry keys recommended in a  thread on a similar issue. No luck.

While the software won't start, I can see from the task manager background processes that the AOMEI Backupper Schedule task service repeatedly launches, then suspends, then a 2nd instance of AOMEI Backupper Schedule task service briefly starts up, then they both crash, and the cycle starts over. Under details, I see the same cycle for ABService.exe, starting a new PID each time.

    -- any errors?
  • No errors reported - no toast boxes, anyway - just no response. The only indication that I tried to open Backupper and that it's trying to start is the endless stream of crashing processes in task manager and ABService logs endlessly accumulating - ABService5133.txt & counting.

    Forgot to mention - have also restarted system repeatedly. 
  • Please completely uninstall Backupper to see if it works.
