Failed to decode backup data

Backed up 3 external (NTFS) drives onto one larger drive. Took a day and a half to do it. Got done and said it failed to decode backup data. Ran an advanced check of the image and got the same message. What is causing this and what does it mean.

    Ran DiskCheckup and appears to be fine...

    All drives have NTFS. The large drive is 4T.  They are all connected to a powered usb hub that's connected to a 3.0 usb port on the computer. As for the backup itself, I just used the standard option for disk backup. The only thing I changed was for high compression. Also, it doesn't seem to want to back up my flash drive and it's fat32.

    I will try a normal compression and see what it does. I am able to view the virtual drives so it has made the backup correctly. It just finds problems when checking the image. I haven't overclocked my cpu.

    The normal backup gave me no errors. Guess I will have to use it even though I have a lot of data to back up.
