"Clone" or "Disk Backup"?

I thought that to restore a system with AOMEI on a new hard drive I'd need the utilities on a pendrive and CLONE of the disk, not a DISK BACKUP. I am not so sure anymore. It would be grate (and spare me troubles) if I actually could use the backup disk (much easier for me to produce) without having to connect two hard drives.
Can somebody confirm that I can use a DISK BACKUP to restore the system on a new hard drive?
