Backupper Locked up at 50%

Backupper just downloaded, bought, installed, trying to use. Upgrading a 750 gb hdd to a 500 GB sshd. (Doesn't need nearly even that much room,) and clicked to allow resizing to fit. looks good up until 50%, "Moving data: 18.65GB/118.84GB Speed 75.64 MB/s  Remaining: 29 minutes. Stays there for at least an hour. lights on my HDD docking module quit blinking, Task Manager shows 47.3 MB memory essentially NO CPU usage.

What am I missing?

    BTW, first time it did this, it locked up my whole PC. subsequent attemps sppear to zip right through the first part, then in Copying Data, stops dead st the above point.

    Please check whether there are bad sectors on your disk.

    Did. Tools/scan didn't find any errors. Defragged. Ran Windows repair for a file windows said was missing. re-scanned. Still same freeze-up.image
