System partition restore fails

So why is this not working?

Backupper 2.0 used to backup laptop drives
64GB SSD which does not have aligned partitions
- 20GB C:  64G_C
- 40GB D:  64G_D
500GB HDD
- 40GB E:  HDD_E
- 40GB F:  HDD_F
- 150GB G: HDD_G
- 150GB H: HDD_H

New SSD is 160GB assigned w/Partition Assistant
- 30GB C:  160G_C
- 40GB D:  160G_D
- 40GB E:  160G_E
- 40GB F:  160G_F

Rather than use partition numbers, will use the labels to explain what was done. The laptop was booted with the new SSD connected via USB and the data partitions copied over:
- 64G_D to 160G_D
- HDD_E to 160G_E
- HDD_F to 160G_F

The HDD in Ultrabay was removed, and replaced with the new SSD, and all that remained was to restore 64G_C to 160G_C to have a functioning system with a larger SSD.

AAARGH! the system image of 64G_C will not restore to 160G_C, and the new SSD is unbootable.

This upgrade to a new and faster SSD seemed like a no-brainer 10 days ago but despite attempting all kinds of variations on the above procedure the backup/restore inevitably ends up with the same failure.

Here are the steps that were followed.

Backupper 2.0
- Backup
- System Backup
- Step1: 64_C selected by Backupper
- Step2: HDD_F BkpofC

- Restore
- Path     160G_F
- Filename BkpofC.adi
The program detects the selected backup is a system image, would you like to do a system restore?
- Yes
- Full Backup
- Disk1/160G_C
Are you sure to continue?
- Yes
- Source 64G_C NTFS size 20GB used 13GB --> 160G_C NTFS size 30GB used 65MB
- Align partition to optimize for SSD
- Restore starts
- Tick Shut down computer

After computer shuts down, replace 64G SSD w/160GB SSD and Power on
- Black screen w/cursor flashing in top left corner
Power off

Put 64G SSD into Ultrabay and Power on
- F12 Select
- Boot from 1
- Load Partition Assistant
- Contents of 160G show the following:

C: 20GB Copy

The 160GB SSD is useless!

The system partition has not been restored.

How can I get the bootable image of 64G_C restored to 160G_C?
