Does a System Restore also a (NTFS) format before restore?

edited September 2016 in AOMEI Products Support

Assume I have a Win 7 partition (among others). It is uncertain if system files on the partion are corrupt or the NTFS cluster structures on it.

So if I boot from a Backupper BootCD and do a System Restore (with a former archive from another partition).

Does this System restore a NTFS format prior to the copy of the previous backup files?

If this is NOT the case and the underlying NTFS cluster structures are damaged then Backupper copies only valid files onto a partition with invalid NTFS structures.....wich is nonsese.

So Backupper should actually do a NTFS format before System Restore.

Can you confirm this?

  • If you do the resstore, it will restore all the data in the backup image. And it will cover all the data in the destination you choose.
