restored partition will not boot windows 8.1
I've been reading in the forums and I know what my mistake was, and that others have made it. I backed up my "system reserved" and "C:" partitions using the partition restore function of AOMEI Backupper instead of the system restore option. So now I have good backups, but when I restore them to a new HDD it wont boot. After several attempts where the program assigns C: to the system reserved partition and to the OS, I finally managed to restore them with the correct drive letters. Still no boot.
I also read that the solution was to rebuild hte MBR. After rebuilding the MBR with Partition Asstant, the drive letters are swapped again. System Reserved is C: and the OS is . Any suggestions?

Hello,
As for your problem, you also need to edit the BCD file beside rebuilding MBR, you may google how to edit the BCD file.
