Restore Short Names in Backupper File Backup

Dear AOMEI Team,


although there's not much left to wish in AOMEI Backupper, I came upon one thing:

With file/directory backup, Backupper does offer the option to restore NTFS ACLs (which is really cool), but preserving short names (8.3) is not possible. This might become a problem when backing up and restoring program directories (e. g. MS Office), since for some reason these files are often referenced in the registry by their 8.3 names.

P.S.:

As a test I created a directory with several files beginning with the same letters:

Please note that the short names have changed, since the files were (re)created (during restore) in another order than originally.

    We feel sorry for the inconvenience that our software does not backup the short names.We will consider to make improvement on this issue.
