System backup vs Partition backup

Hi,

 

Previous Iused Ghost for my backup. But after buy external HDD my Ghost don't works withthis. I found AOMEI software - it's working perfect and more, more quickly!

 

But I havequestion... In Norton Ghost I simply mark all partitions (with OS too) and makeimage. What is difference between Partition backup and System backup for me? Iuse Windows XP. Should I create separate System backup and all other partitions,or can select all partitions with OS-base partition and push into one image? What'sbetter?
