1. Log in ESXi web client.

2. Right-click the host and select Actions >> Services >> Enable Secure Shell (SSH).

3. Open an SSH session to the ESXi/ESX host.

4. Run this command to list the disks that are attached to the ESXi host:

• Optional: Select Add other device >> SCSI controller (If you already have an existing SCSI controller for RDMs, you don't need to create another one.)
• Select Add hard disk >> Use an existing hard disk, then select the newly created vmdk file and expand it.

• Select using the newly created SCSI controller. From the drop-down menu, click SCSI (1:0) the Independent as the Disk Mode.

7. Add a Hard Drive to the OS.

• Boot the virtual machine and navigate to open up Disk Management, right-click on the hard drive and select New Simple Volume.
• Go to “This PC” in File Explorer, then you will see the new hard disk.
